What is a Mark?
A Mark is a standardized format for you to collect, hold onto, and document all the places you love to visit. It includes all the demographic data for a particular site (obtained from Google or entered by you), such as address, phone number and web URL. You can also personalize fields in the Mark, including who referred you, notes for planning, and timestamps with notes and photos from your visits. The next time someone asks you for a recommendation, you can Share your Marks with them directly or through Facebook.
What is the “My Marks” view?
A list of all of your Marks in alphabetical order. Once you have collected several Marks, you can search for names or keywords at the top. You can also filter your Marks by Type, Geozone and Itinerary.
What is the "My World” view?
A map of the world with your Marks. It will be blank at first and soon populated by all the Marks you collect and add. You can move around and zoom in and out just like on your phone's map app. You can also filter your Marks to view, just like in “My Marks” view.
What are “GeozonesTM”?
An area of a map which you create and save the borders. It is used for quick access to view Marks within a geographic area of your choosing. (eg. "Northern California" or "Metropolitan DC area"). When you create a Geozone, simply size and center your map as desired and save. Any Marks you have collected or will collect in that geographic area will be included for easy access to view or to filter by in other features.
How do I create and use an "Itinerary"?
To plan a trip, create a new Itinerary, enter a name and set the start and end dates. Then add any Marks you might want to include on this trip, either directly from the Itinerary or from an individual Mark. As you fine-tune your trip, you can move your Marks to a specific day within that itinerary. This day will then become the "Dream Date" for that Mark. You can also view all Marks in an Itinerary on a Map by filtering to that Itinerary from the "My World" view.
What is a “Dream Date”?
This is a field within a Mark that you set as the date you plan to go to a place. This will help you as you start to build your itinerary. If your itinerary includes the date you have set as your Dream Date, that Mark will automatically populate the Itinerary on that date. Likewise if you move the Mark to a different date on the Itinerary, the Dream Date will change accordingly.
What is an "Experience"?
This is a way to record your time at a Mark with a time-stamp, notes and pictures. You may add a photo from your phone's album or take a picture from within the Experience. The timestamp will default to the present date and time, but you can always edit this if you are adding your Experiences to a Mark at a later time. You can view these Experiences over time within a Mark and they will also populate your Travel Journals.
How do I create and populate a Journal?
Once you've entered some Experiences in different Marks, you can view them together as a group (such as from a trip). Create a Journal, name it, and enter the start and end dates. All Experiences you have from within that time frame will automatically populate the Journal, (including notes and pictures from those Experiences) and can be viewed together in chronological order. Even if you don't keep all your photos on your phone, they will always be there for you to see and show off in your Journal.
How do I share a Mark, and what fields get shared?
You can share a Mark from within that Mark or from the Share feature in the Menu. Look for the share icon, enter your recipient's email address or select one from your Mark My World Buddies or phone’s Contacts. Choose which Mark(s) you would like to share and click Send. If your recipient accepts, the Mark will be incorporated into their Mark My World Inbox. This will include the demographic information on the Mark, as well as your name as the Referral Source and any Public Notes you have. If your recipient is not yet a Mark My World user, they will receive an email instructing them on how to become one.
When I post an Experience to Facebook, what gets posted?
The name of the Mark, along with the first picture in your Experience (picture order can be adjusted within the Experience by holding down and moving the pictures) and any text you would like be posted. If your friend wants your Mark, a link on the Facebook post will allow them to take it into their account, and this will include your name as the Referral Source and any Public Notes you have, just as if you were sharing with them directly.
How can I sync my Marks to my other iOS devices?
If you install Mark My World on your other apple iOS devices such as you iPad and you have the same iCloud account, your Marks can automatically sync between your devices. Make sure that your settings are set up for this to work.
In Settings -> iCloud - > iCloud Drive - > Mark My World -> On
Why did you create Mark My World, and why is it different from any other travel apps?
We are always discovering cool places to visit from friends, families, magazine articles, travel books, blogs and social media. The problem is, we have no good place to store these places and access them when we need them. We prefer not to rely on crowd-sourcing sites when we are visiting a new town or area, because we don’t know if the recommendations will be reliable or suited to us. When we travel, it’s difficult to write notes and try to match them up with photos when we get home to document and remember our trip. We created Mark My World to solve these problems – Users can collect Marks, access them easily in lists and maps, document experiences as they happen, have an instant travel journal and share great places with their friends and families and followers. We love using Mark My World, and couldn’t imagine travelling and experiencing without it. We hope you do too!
